FDLE's crime statistics for 2018 show an overall drop in crime of 4.1 percent, but Leesburg's crime is far too high -- the second highest in Central Florida -- and Mount Dora's crime have gone up nearly 25 percent two years running.

The annual Kids Count survey by the Annie E. Casey Foundation says that 6% fewer kids live in poverty in Lake -- and that more than 500,000 people will be living here in a short 25 years.
